With origins dating back to the early Middle Ages, Il Molinaccio was initially built as a watchtower and was rebuilt over time as a mill and later as a villa. The building is steeped in history having once been the property of Bettino Ricasoli, the second prime minister of Italy. With its walls reaching a thickness of over one meter, the villa preserves warmth in the winter and maintains a cool interior in the summer months. The vaulted ceilings and the terracotta floors made by skilled artisans centuries ago are a lasting testament of its past. In recent years, the villa has been expertly restored and furnished to include the best essential modern comforts while maintaining its rustic charm.
Bedrooms and Villa Layout
There are five bedrooms that sleep a maximum of 13 people. All beds are Hästens which provides unparalleled sleep.
Ground floor: Kitchen, formal dining room, living room, bathroom and bedroom that sleeps up to four people.
First floor: Four bedrooms, three of which have ensuite bathrooms, billiard room and library with fireplace, 5th bathroom.
There is an outdoor courtyard, a pool, sauna, game court, ping pong table, playground, and a creek.

Il Molinaccio is located about 60 km south of Florence; an easy day trip either by train or car. Florence was the center of the Italian Renaissance from 1350 – 1527 which oversaw a cultural explosion in art, architecture, politics, literature, and technology. Although Florence has grown and modernized a great deal, the lasting beauty of the art and architecture is evident everywhere. It is truly one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Siena is 30 km south of the villa and visiting Siena is like stepping back in time to an Italian medieval town. The streets are full of interesting shops with beautiful artisan-crafted goods including leather, olive wood-crafted items, and locally made ceramics. In 1995, Siena’s historic centre was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Palio di Siena, an equestrian race of medieval origin, takes place every year on July 2 and August 16.
